Coronavirus: Covid-19 Latest Update
Dear Parent and Carer
Coronavirus: Covid-19 Latest Update
I write further to the statement delivered by the Prime Minister yesterday afternoon (PM statement on coronavirus: 16 March 2020).
I can confirm that with immediate effect, if your child or anyone within the household in which they live has one of two key symptoms: a high temperature (classified as 37.8C or above) or a new, continuous cough, then they should stay at home for fourteen days.
I would be grateful if you would continue to report your child’s absence to school as normal. Wherever possible, please report Covid-19 related-absences by email in the first instance to attendance@oakwood.ac This will help us to manage the high volume of calls we are currently experiencing.
Where a pupils is absent from school due to self-isolation, whilst staff will do their best to set work for pupils, even with best endeavours, this will not always be possible. Pupils can access work through Google Docs and Google Classrooms. This particularly applies to pupils in years 10 and 11 who should direct themselves to the English (Year 10 and 11), Maths and Science sites,
I will write tomorrow with further details of our response to the Prime Minister’s latest statement and thank you for your ongoing support during this challenging time.
Yours sincerely
Chris Eccles
Deputy Headteacher
