Photography Competition
As part of the Place Makers Future Shapers National Heritage Lottery Funded Project Clifton Park Museum are holding a photography competition for young people aged 13 – 25 years of age who live in the communities close to the museum. This competition is free to enter, and photographs can be taken on either a camera, mobile phone or tablet. It is open to all young people who live in Rotherham Town Centre, Wellgate, Broom, Canklow, Clifton, East Dene, Eastwood and Herringthorpe. We are looking for young people to join in and have a go at taking photos of what they like most about their local area or community and capture their experience of Lock down.
Young Photographers can enter into 1 of 5 Categories –
1 – One image that captures your experience of Lockdown 2020
2 – Your favourite heritage building, monument or site in your local area
3 – All about Me; an image that captures the Story of You (e.g qualities, beliefs and your individuality)
4 – A special local place (somewhere you have visited during Lockdown)
5 – Something that represents your connection to your community or local area
Prizes include £50 shopping vouchers and 3 annual Society of Photography memberships.
Entering the competition couldn’t be easier. For a chance to win simply email heritage.youth@rotherham.gov.uk for an entry form. The deadline for entries is 14th August 5pm.
A panel of judges including professional photographers and creatives will help select the winners! Winners will be invited to a prize ceremony and a selection of winning photographs will be included as part of a future exhibition at Clifton Park Museum. The competition is supported by Rotherham Ward Councillors for Boston Castle, Rotherham East and Valley Wards through the Rotherham MBC Councillors Community Leadership Fund, the Society of Photographers and the National Heritage Lottery Fund.
