Active Travel Ambassadors

On Thursday 29th February, Oakwood’s Active Travel Ambassadors represented the school at a Campaign Junction at Sheffield Town Hall, as part of a project run by Modeshift.

Their campaign, ‘More stride, more pride’, aims to tackle the road safety issues pupils face when travelling to school and encourage more pupils to choose a method that is healthier for them and the planet, such as walking or parking and striding. 11 of Oakwood’s ambassadors presented in front of pupils and staff from 7 other schools, as well as a panel of 4 judges, including former Olympic cyclist Ed Clancy OBE (they even got to meet him and get a close up of his Olympic medals!)

As a result of their fantastic ideas and confident pitch, they have been awarded £250 to spend on bringing their campaign to life! They are planning lots of exciting things as part of their campaign, so watch this space…
