Let's celebrate diversity (amongst other things)

This isn't going to be about the weather again; I promise. However, I did make mention last week that the weather this week might be a little more spring like. I seem to have got it wrong. More like the height of summer rather than spring time itself. That said; the warmer weather and seeing something of that orange globe, in the sky, has brought a certain feeling of warmth to the atmosphere. This warmth has extended to how we might be feeling within the school and in our wider lives.

Has Spring sprung?

Foolishly, I had thought we might have enjoyed some Spring like weather this week. As we are well into mid-April now it seemed reasonable to believe that we might have a little sunshine and some well needed warmth. However, this hasn't been the case and, yet again, we have experienced a week with a significantly autumnal feel.

The Easter break is upon us ...

It's been a strange old half term. In fact it's been a strange old term. We returned in the New Year, with resolutions still fresh and to unseasonably warm weather. Since then we have been hit by waves of inclement weather which has resulted in significant snowfall for the first time, here in Rotherham, for a number of years. We did all we could to stay open and continue to work positively with the children and yet we do know that the shifts in the weather do make it more difficult for us all here ‘at the chalk face’. We cannot ignore the fact that changing weather does make it more challenging for us to manage the site and can create, within the pupil body, an unbalanced equilibrium. And yet here we are at the end of the term having seen many children make significant progress in their learning, having completed a Tutor Review Day and Parents’ Evening with some degree of confidence and success and having worked with all of our children in a positive and professional manner.

A sad week in the world of celebrity

If the truth be told I am feeling a little bereft this week. When you are of a certain age the passing of some of our well known personalities does have an impact.

Back to normal - thank goodness!

The Beast from the East has gone. Storm Emma has passed. Snow Armageddon has been averted. We are and have been back to normal this week. Schools can it be challenging places at the best of times but when natural events conspire to make it even more difficult for us it is how we respond to those events that mark the quality of the individual or the institution.
