Ex Oakwood Pupil lands dream job with ITV

Becky told us her favourite subject at Oakwood was English as she loved writing and being able to express herself through words, which led on to studying A-Levels in English Language and English Literature (alongside dance and drama) and then a degree in Journalism at the University of Lincoln.

She said of her time at Oakwood, "I took part in lots of extra curricular activities such as school shows, sports teams and student council. I think getting involved and having a variety of interests is brilliant because you learn so many life skills which can help you so much in any job - if I hadn't have got involved with performing and sports when I was younger I don't think I would ever have had the confidence to start such a big job with such a big organisation at the age of 21"

"My advice to current students would be to work as hard as you can - hard work always pays off in the end. I left Oakwood with 6 A*s and 4 As (GCSEs) because I always gave everything 110%. I would also say take every opportunity as you never know what the small things might lead to. Finally, I would say whatever career you choose to follow, make sure it's something you'll enjoy. I absolutely love my job and it's the best feeling in the world!"
