LGBTQ Group

April 29, 2025

There is a LGBTQ group at Dalton Family and Children’s centre on Monday evenings 6-8pm
There is currently a small arts project starting next Monday where we have partnered up with Children’s Capitol of Culture for the young people to create some artwork exploring the theme of identity to be displayed as part of the WOW festival on the 10th May inside and outside the Minster. The first art session will take place Monday 28th and then on Thursday 1st there will be an artist coming to Dalton to support the young people in painting an LGBTQ banner. (This is on Thursday only due to the bank holiday.)
There is an open evening on Monday the 5th May for anyone who would like to attend and see what the group is all about where there will be a theme of Dorothy and friends, music quizzes, karaoke and more!
This is a great youth group that offers young people a safe space to make new friends and develop their confidence and self-esteem.
This group will offer activities such as baking, a pool table, arts and crafts, board games, costumes for dress up and there is a breakout room if the young people want to chill and hang out together or for some quiet time.
There will be sexual health clinic team attending a session monthly where they will explore sexual health and healthy relationships with the young people and we occasionally have other outside agencies attend the session such as an LGBTQ pride representative who captures the young person’s voice and mental health workers who explain what resources are available to them.
