Football

It was a pleasure to see the skill of football being enacted by our Y7 pupils in the football match last night against Clifton. They were 2-0 down, came back to 2-2 kicking uphill, then Clifton scored 2 in the last two minutes to win 4-2. There were a few tears but the Oakwood lads could not have done us more proud! Well done to Mr  Tibenham for his coaching and management over the last 6 months; the boys may be small (and they were small compared to some of the Clifton boys) but they are mighty! Extra-curricular is such an important part of school life and they will remember it forever!

We also wish our Y11 footballers good luck in the Rotherham Schools Plate final. Last year they finished runners up in the Cup competition so hopefully they can go one better this time. Kick off is 11.30am at St Bernard’s.

Cricket

On Wednesday, our Y7 pupils showed their interest in playing cricket for their school. 23 pupils attended the first indoor session and it was lovely to see their passion and enthusiasm. Many of the pupils had not played much cricket before but as one pupil said, “I just want to play sport for my school.” What a great attitude and we definitely have something to build on with these pupils.
