Each week Y7 students must complete home learning for English, Maths, Reading and Science. Some subjects may offer an enrichment learning opportunity. This is optional and extra to their core home learning tasks.
Failure to complete their home learning by the due day, for any subject, will result in a break time detention.
| Subject | Due | Task | Time | What counts as completed home learning? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| English | Monday | Bedrock | 30 Minutes | 20 points |
| Reading | Reading Lesson | Sparx Reader | 30 Mintues | 100 SRP |
| Maths | Friday | Complete tasks set online with Sparx Maths. Students must show their working out for these tasks in a notebook and share this with their teacher in class. | 30 Mintues | 100% of questions correct on Sparx |
| Science | Friday | Complete tasks set online with Sparx Science | 30 Minutes | 100% of questions correct on Sparx |
If students are struggling with questions, then they are required to keep attempting the same question. Sparx provides support to students that are struggling to answer questions by simplifying the question or providing informative videos.
If students are still struggling with the question after 10 attempts they can move on to the next question.
If students have not spent time reattempting the question they are struggling with, and have not spent 30 minutes on Sparx, this will result in subject break time detention.
By focusing on core subjects in the earlier years and gradually introducing options home learning, we ensure students develop robust independent study habits without becoming overwhelmed.
Some subjects may require learning outside the classroom to support revision for in class assessments. This will be clearly communicated on Arbor.
